I pinched too soon so I have tall lanky laterals. Some of the dahlias have three big stems with very few flowers and no other laterals formed off the laterals I created? Some dahlias are big and bushy and they didn't have pinching at all and are 4 feet tall. I prefer the tall varieties. The first year I did dahlias was the best. I got the tubers, put them 6 inches in the ground, covered them all up and they were big and bushy all fall. This year I did the directions and ran into all sorts of problems. What are all your thoughts?
