 o
Dahlia virus?

I had wonderful green leaves this year until last week. The leaves on some of my dahlias are mottled with yellow. I don't have white fly, I don't have spider mite (although I sprayed for them last night) and I haven't seen any strange bugs around. I am trying to keep the watering steady as we have only had rain twice this summer and for a very short time. We have humid, hot days with some drying at times. If it is dahlia virus, could someone tell me how to treat it?

Bummer! I will let you know. I was wondering if I should plant something else in those raised beds next year. I know you have to rotate crops. Or, change out all the soil?

pd THE BAD NEWS IS YOU MUST DISCARD ALL TUBERS THAT SHOW VIRUS. As you dig each of those tubers mix i cup Clorox to 1 gal water and pour in the hole. Don't think this really does much good but will make you feel better about it. Steve S.

How can I be sure it is a virus? I had used a mulching product this year called Mainely Mulch. It is straw and hay chopped up, sanitized and than compressed into a bale that covers alot but is not heavy. Have any of you heard of it? Could that be my problem? I will indeed discard the tubers this year and also cover my soil with a tarp to try and sanitize it. Any ideas on how to sanitize the soil other than what I mentioned? It doesn't seem to bother the flowers but I hate looking at it after sooo much work!

PD, I think you will find most virus spread by insects. Steve S.
