MWL: 4" diameter flower on a 42" bush.
Something new every day...;-] Cabana Banana, I have decided, has a stalk problem. I had this problem last year too. It grows so large, thick and tall, that it splits at the first pinch point. I remembered that I made a mental note not to pinch it this year, but unfortunately that was long after I had already pinched. I lost two stalks this year off this plant. Oh well, live and learn. Elijah Mason is interesting. This first bloom is facing straight up in the air, like a Black Eyed Susan or something. Should make an interesting bush if they are all like this. I have a couple of "odd" looking blooms coming. An A La Mode that is supposed to be white tipped seems so far to be more sectioned (like, as if 1/2 will be white, and the other half a dark bronze.) I also have a Tahiti Sunrise that has no red on the tips, but instead in the center...very pretty looking but strange. I put pics up when they are in full bloom. Also, got my Irritrol PC Control hardware/software today. Its a wireless sprinkler controller that has a remote hand-held that plugs into your computer. You then use software on the computer to program your watering schedules, and get this...download daily weather information which automatically adjusts your watering run times!! Its very cool. Lol, couldn't resist sharing...;-] Cheers,

Russ, Seriously, you're like our James Bond of the dahlia forum with all those gadgets. Pretty blooms...

I agree Linht! Pretty blooms and James Bond, all the way. Remote sprinkler control! It would take me half a lifetime to figure out how to use such an asset, and I don't have half a lifetime to spare. Those who are tech savvy are really in the catbird's seat nowdays. I just count the days since watering, or since rain and act accordingly....

Actually, the thing is pretty easy to use. If you got one, your sprinkler installer would set it up for you. All the updating is automatic (which IMO is the real purpose of the remote.) The only time I think I'll ever use the remote is when friends are over and they refuse to believe I can turn my sprinklers on from inside the sunroom...;-] Cheers,
