Some Seedling Pictures

These are some of our seedlings this year- most of them are 2005 seedlings so are being considered for introduction next year. The last one- 07 13 isn't ready to be introduced yet- it's not old enough to face the big world but will probably be going to the trial gardens next year.

This is Mt. Baker from the Big Garden- taken by a friend- Dick Ambrose. All the rest of the seedlings are in this garden.

Seedlings & Mt Baker

Seedling 05 81-- B SC Dark Blend

seedling 05 81

The same seedling as the last one.

I think this one's kind of cute! 05 72 B ID White
seedling 05 72

This one is a really BIG one- about 13"wide x 12" deep!
05 43 AA SC LtBl Yellow & Orange

seedling 05 43

Another biggie- AA SC Yellow-- consistantly 12"x11"
seedling 05 55

We call this one Wyn's Sleepyhead because he closes up & goes to sleep about 7 o'clock every night. He'll probably be introduced in 2010 because he's already won a lot of prizes in shows. A ID Yellow
Wyn's Sleepyhead

And last but best- IMHO-- 07 13- Walt has been calling this one Primadonna because she is so popular with everyone who comes to the gardens--& she knows it! A ID Purple

Another shot of the Big Garden- I took this one- it's not nearly as good as the one Dick took!

For those who don't know the dahlia code- AA= over 10' in diameter. A= 8-10" diameter. B= 6-8" diameter

Plantlady, when we flew out of Seattle on the 22nd on the way to Spokane I saw Mt. Baker for the first time. My friends in Colville had a few in bloom. Jeanne I really liked and the other a huge yellow SC must have. The things you sent are doing well but must tell you Farmer John is the real workhorse here. It has been in bloom since June and is really going now with the cooler weather. Your seedlings are all must have's. Keep on keeping on. Steve S.

I find all are breathtakingly gorgeous, but I especially love the form of the white (05 72 B ID White) - very lovely shaggy effect.

It's a shame you have to farm with such an unsightly backdrop, Plantlady ;) If I lived in that area I wouldn't know which to stare at more: the mountains or the terrific blooms.

I like both the whites, but they're all splendid, especially the color on Primadonna.

I love your dahlias and will be visiting you this year via cataloge I hope. I am making lists of what I want. It is pouring now and the dahlias look like peonies.

Of course I have to have that purple one. My daughter wants the orange yellow one. I will have to wait for your on line photos to show the wife. I may just order from you my self like last year. I have been very happy with farmer john and daper dad. They are out front in the big pots so every one who goes by the house sees them.
