| We were warned that the temperatures would be low, but not freezing. However, we had a MAJOR frost last night. I imagine all my dahlias will be done for the year. I'll know in a few hours.
I had covered my brugmansia just in case, but not the dahlias. They were flowering so plentifully also. What a shame! |

| Sorry to hear of your bad news jroot. I'm not too far below you in St Paul, MN and we had a frost friday night. It was not enough to put an end to my dahlias but 75% of my blooms were ruined. The rest of the plant seems to be okay. However, I'm pretty positive mine won't make it through the end of this month. |

| Awww gosh Jroot, That really stinks! I know the tender, loving care you put into caring for your dahlias and there is nothing worse that a short season...especially for you. If it makes you feel any better, the weather has been whacky in southern NY and two of my Dahlias have only started to bloom--I suspect an early frost here as well. Anywho, hope your girls brush off the cold snap and snap back for you! |

| Bummer jroot - I was thinking about that on Sat night when we actually built a fire in the fireplace and toasted marshmallows! But decided to let nature handle it and they came thru fine down here. Hope you get a few more blooms yet. |

| Sorry to hear that Jroot. I hope to get a good report of many survivors from you. There's no denying the days are shorter and cooler, although I've been trying to deny it for a couple weeks :) |

| I am happy to say that, while there was some damage to the extremities, "the good news" is that the plants have all pulled through. I trimmed off several pails full of blooms(5 gallon pails), and blackened leaves this morning, and things look a lot healthier. I also had to cut back several of my brugmansia which were under the sheets. The frost was so hard, it went right through the sheets. I don't think I've seen that before at this time of year. Anyway, I thought I would pass on "the good news". |
