Those are very nice planter boxes, Viking. Expertly crafted by the craftsman. I can't get over how short a real dahlia plant can be and still bloom. So many of mine are gigantic 6-7-8 footers here. Nice jungle to get lost in though. Here's one corner of the bed where I have most of the dahlias. The tall pink is well over 7' at top of bloom. Many are over 5-6 ft and a few are actually 3-4 feet: a real luxury.

Thanks poochella there may be a few more of these around. Some one on the router forum saw my posting there and is going to build a larger version for his house. If I make mine with two panels it is just one of my blanket chests with out the lid. Most of my dahlias are shorter this year. Daper dad is over 6 feet. I have a hard time reach the umbrela to keep the sun off it.

My gosh, viking- you've been working that Farmer J hard this summer- it seems like he's been blooming since around June. He always was a hard worker though! Your Dapper Dad is taller than his namesake- who barely made 5'8"!
