Is it to late to get blooms?

My dahlias are budding out but not flowering and here in washington rainy season has arrived in full force. I stopped growing dahlias for 7 years so I have forgotten alot about growing them. Will they bloom out if I bring the buds inside the house? I have them in a well drained raised bed , is there any chance they will continue to grow and flower out if I just leave them alone another month? Or will all the rain and lack of sun do them in early? I have noticed there are other posters from washington here and they can atest to our sucky summer. We were 15 deg. lower than normal in temps and it didn,t slow down on rain until the second week in july then we. had about 5 weeks of nice but not hot temps, unless you count that 5 days of 90 plus we had in late august. I wanted to start collecting dehlias again but now I remember why I didn,t replace them all the last time they died. Its disheartening to spend the whole year anticpationg blooms then have them bud out and not bloom at all.

Here in zone 8 I keep picking until the first frost. For me,that is usually around Halloween. As the days get shorter the plants will produce fewer flowers and they will be paler in color. Storms may break the plant, or break off flowers, but every late bloom is precious, bringing color into the drab damp weather! During this time your plant is getting ready to sleep, a natural process but not harmed by continuing to enjoy the blooms. The other thing that I notice with my dahlias is a lot more open centers on them. Still bright and rewarding but not as pretty a form. I would say that your should get a number of flowers still as we have some beautiful weather still to come.
