Newly aquired tubers -- Plant or Store?

rockyridge

Hello, I just received some Dahlia tubers in a round robin trade. I thought I'd come to the experts for a little advice.

I know they are supposed to be planted in the spring; but is it too late now? We have about 3 months worth of warm weather here....usually. This year's weather has been so crazy who knows. Last year the first killing freeze that knocked my Brugs down was Dec. 7.

If I should store them till spring, how do I do that?

Also, can Dahlias stay in the ground in this zone or must they be dug up and stored? I live on the highest ridge in the county and have a little microclimate going on here. Stays warmer than surrounding areas.

Any thoughts you have will be appreciated.

Thanx

Roxanne
