| My mother-in-law has a large pink dahlia at the corner of her porch. It is in a protected spot and has not been dug in the twenty-two years I've been married to he daughter, in spite of the fact that she lives in central Indiana (Zone 5).
Last spring I too a cutting from it, brought it home, and rooted it, thinking I'd surprise her with another plant like the one she has. It rooted easily and I set it out in my garden. I did not allow it to bloom, since I was more concerned with it building up a good root system this year. It didn't get very big, but we had an extremely hot dry summer. It was bushy and two or three feet tall. When I dug it this week there was a cluster of roots at the base of what was once the cutting, but no tubers at all. Is it possible that this tuberless root will "Keep" over the winter? Thanks for Your Input |

| It will keep, if the roots are long then cut them down to a better size, replant again next year and you will get tubers. More info here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynw3ebPnuwE |
