I would love to plant some dahlias for cutting. I have a few spots w/ them growing in beds but I hate to cut them because they look prefect in their bed.. I have several rows of roses, lilies and other flowers that are used for cutting.. Would it be ok to plant the dahlias in rows..They would have landscape fabric on each side and be mulched with compost.. Thank you.

Of course you can. I have always kept my Dahlias in a bed separate from perennials so that I don't disturb the perennial when I dig them up in the Fall. Just give them enough room - I still tend to plant mine to close together.

Every Dahlia vendor's website I visit has pictures of their flowers planted in rows. Seems like a great way to grow them especially if you'll be using them for cutting. Wish I had the space to have a nice, well-organized place to plant mine in easy-to-weed rows!
