Love it Viking!! Details...how big is that bloom? It seems to be a semi-cactus, is that right? Compared to Thomas Edison I'm hard pressed to choose, what do you think (you have them both, right?) Cheers,

If I had to choose I would probaly pick Ripples because of the longer growing season. Thomas Edison is notorious for being late. My other dahlias are not producing as many flowers now. But Thomas Edison has finally come into it's own. Size wise they are close to each other. There both listed as B size. Ripples list they are 6 inces, Thomas Edison is listed at 8 inces. If you keep the number of blooms down on Ripples it looks the same size as Thomas Edison in my garden. Ripples has the tendacy to produce too many blooms ,then they get smaller. Ripples looks more like a semi cactus ,but is listed as a informal decorative. Thomas Edison reminds me of a waterlily. Hope this helps.

Such a difference from coast to coast: Ripples is on my cull list because two years in a row it's only bloomed in early to mid October and that's in my best sun. Doesn't do me much good, so off it goes. Yours is gorgeous Viking. Glad you get to enjoy it the whole season.

That's quite a beauty Viking. I am crazy for purple and orange dahlias. Out of curiosity, have you found your Thomas Edison's difficult to propagate? I love 'em but just never get enough blooms to satisify me. Best regards, Lucinda

Lucinda ,I have two bushes one is huge the other small. Ithink I my take the small bush in the house for the winter. I will use it to take cuttings from. So next year I will have way more. I also want to see if I can get it to bloom sooner. Next year I will be able to tell you how well I did.
