| Hi everyone. I am new to the dahlia community. I just had to lift my bulbs this year. Even though I did much reading on what to do with the tubers, it is still very confusing to me. Most web sites say to discard the "mother tuber" but I literally do not have a clue which it is. I would not even know where to cut it off. I also left all the tubers in tack because I am afraid I will sepereate in the wrong place. Do I have to seperate them? I would also prefer to put all of them in pots next year ecause it seemed easier to dig up the potted ones. I would apprewciate any help!

| Where are you in Michigan? It seems a little early to be digging up the tubers . I am in mid-Michigan and my dahlias just got their first freeze last night. I am also confused regarding the mother tube. Below is a link from this site with pictures showing in great detail how to divide tubers. |
