Dahlia Beds ready for winter

Here in Georgia we had a real hot and dry summer. My dahlias really took a hard hit and I didn't think there were going to be any flowers this fall BUT the late rains came in and the dahlias took off and we had some super blooms. I have now cut down the plants and prepared the beds for the winter. We will dig them up early next spring and divide them and then replant. Here in Georgia where we live the dahlias will survive the winter if you put thick mulch over the plants and we also put aluminum foil over the cut stems before covering them. This will stop water from getting in the hollow stems and then freezing thus killing the plant. Go to my website and check out our Dahlia page.
