New to Daylilies-need beginner's guide

I just fell in love with the color of a daylily at the nursery. It was one of those impulse buys and I planted it in what I think now is too shady of a spot. Gets direct sun at high noon but mostly bright and filtered shade.

First question:

Can I transplant it to a sunny spot now? Live in CA. Hot and dry, but I have to water a lot everyday anyway.

A friend then gave me another lily a few days later and so I am starting to be intrigued. I would like to get some good beginner's Guide to Daylilies website addresses.

p.s. does everyone pollinate their daylilies by hand? I don't know the first thing about this.
