Hosta seedlings, Brooke!

Hi Brooke, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get these pics. If life is a highway, I'm in a section of hills, curves, and potholes! Here are most of the seedlings I grew from the seed you sent me last fall. I have the crosses labeled in the pots, but they're not handy, so its just pics as-is today:

I've got several nice streaked ones, so I'll be excited to see how they look next year. Pardon the slug holes - the slug bait has obviously worn off, and I have to go get more ASAP.

At least you have enough moisture to lure the slugs out. The ONLY good thing about a drought is the slugs move away from my hosta.

Nice group of seedlings. It will be fun to watch and see if they stay streaked or if the settle into a pattern.

Today I noticed one of my baby seedlings I thought was going to be blue is turning bluer as the season goes on. Blue is a wax coating on green and is used to protect the plant from heat. It is great when a hosta keeps the blue deep into the season.

Hosta seedlings are more fun than daylilies because you don't wait forever to see what the potential can be.

Nothing like instant gratification, is there? I'll be interested to watch these babies grow up. One of them has interesting elongated leaves, a couple appear gold/chartreuse, and some are streaked - a nice assortment to enjoy. Thank you for sending such great seed!
