| Still trying to organize last year's daylily pics... but here's a shot from last spring... (OT, but it beats snow and 20 degree temps!)

| Hey.. I actually do have some pics I would LOVE to pop up, but I can't for my life figure out how to attach a pic here.:( |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

| I think you have to host them at imageshack or tinypic or a hosting service and then upload from there. My computer crashed last fall and I lost most of my daylily pics! I had hundreds but only uploaded a very few on the plant trading forum. I should go check...................... Oh runningfree That is a warm picture! Sand and sun. OT are surely welcomed! Thanks for posting it! Kathy |

| One of my favorite daylily photos, two tiny Small Gesture flowers snuggled close together-
Close-up of the eye on Whispering-
Bitsy, with an itsy bitsy baby katydid-
Catalpa flowers...they look like orchids, my favorite tree flowers-
Tulip 'Menton'-
Anemone sylvestris-
Campanulas and penstemon-
Salvia transylvanica-
Sun shining on hosta 'Guacamole'-
And its pretty, scented flower-
My favorite hosta, 'Blue Mouse Ears'-
And, finally, looking through the leaves of a dogwood, to the Silver Maple and blue sky-

| Tepelus, the hosta "Blue Mouse Ears", is it as diminutive as it appears (yeah, I'm gonna Google it anyway)? Most interesting to see the Catalpa flowers, I've purchased the so-called Catalpa worms for catfishing (with good results) but I don't think I'd know the tree. Guess I'm a clue closer though? As for tree blooms, I've never seen any nicer, thanks for sharing! ~Wes |

| Been a LONG time, but I'll try this. These are all 2009 seedlings Bordello Queen X Shores of Time target="_blank"> |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

| Hey Wes- Catalpa trees are one of my favorites, they grow fast, have huge heart-shaped leaves, gorgeous flowers and unique bean-shaped pods a foot or more long. Their leaves don't change color in the fall, they just brown up and fall, usually they fall while still green. As for the hosta, yup, it's a small one, the leaves are only a couple inches wide, the plant itself will only get to be roughly ten inches across and six inches tall (minus flowers). Karen |
Keep em coming

| Love those pics! Great shot of Guacamole and Small Gesture, love the close-up of Whisper.... tepelus, Please do post some more pics of your seedlings! I have some crosses with Shores of Time that should bloom this year. |

| How's this for 'winter cheer'? Likely mentioned/posted before but I just stumbled across this killer last night. Apparently a waiting list for single fans (and I can see why)! It's 'Cat Ballou', Bill Gluck 2007. Link below. Trying to stick with spiders this year so I'm glad this one is out of my price range! ~Wes

| Beautiful daffodils! I really need to plant more spring flowering bulbs, but by fall I'm usually burnt out with gardening and have no desire to plant them. Karen |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

| My earliest bloomers are bearded iriises as the left-over foliage remains attractive throughout the season. These are "Best Bet" mixed in a bed that holds a half dozen varities of daylilies (2 clumps of each). They're geting a little large so I might transplant one and divide the other to keep them in the same locations. Last year was their 4th and finally produced a re-bloom...at Halloween! (They got bit by the frost and continued to try to open through December)So as of now ,my earliest and latest blooms. ~Wes

| What a breath of fresh air this is! I was just thinking this morning that if I hadn't fallen in love with flowers so much, I might not be so impatient for spring right now. But shame on me... I should be appreciating all the beauty around me now. The sunrise was gorgeous this morning with all the snow glistening. Still, I want my flowers. And this is why:
I loved seeing everybody's pictures here. Hope to see more to cure those winter blahs. Vickie |

| Wes, I saw Cat Ballou last year when I was rummaging through websites and knew it was going to be in high demand. Glad you posted the picture here, because I love it Very unusual. Maybe someday I will be able to afford it. Vickie |

| how are you getting the pictures in the posts? |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

"How are you getting the pictures in the posts?" Outside photohosts such as Photobucket/Flickr/Webshots allow you to upload phots to an online album, from there you can get link code to paste into the text of your message (use the 'html' code option, the post preview will allow you to see if your pics are showing or not). With the tinypic.com url no account is needed, you just browse the folder of your choice and upload your pics individually and it will give you several link codes (again, the 'html' code choice is needed for the pics to show in your post). Hope that helps? ~Wes |

| Re: Name me That's a dandy Kathy, I can see why it's the "favorite one", too bad that's already registered. Got a larger pic? I'm off to check on the house where my favorites grow, supposed to hit 40* tomorrow...compared to 1* this morning that'll be like a heat wave! Anyway, thanks for starting the thread of cheer. Kept me entertained and I learned something cool about a native tree and found a "must have" hosta! ~Wes |

| Wow, pamghatten..I love that last shot!! It looks so peaceful and serene. I love the color of that tree peony too; it is such a saturated color. |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

| Weeper, it is peaceful and serene ... the only noises besides an occasional car going down the road is the cows next door and my donkeys. Another favorite pic ... a hot air balloon landing in the neighbors cow pasture.

| Oh, Katladie, love your kitties! Lucky them! Aren't we lucky to live in the south! Your flowers are beautiful. Can't believe we are this cold in FL. Hoping for warm soon! What those flowers to grow. |
RE: Favorite pics for some winter cheer, anyone?

| Thanks beachlily, we have some pretty spoiled furbabies. And yes, we are lucky to live in the south, even though we are under a winter storm warning, but nothing like up north. I am ready for the flowers to start growing too. Baby Nudger with Radar in the back ground:
