Incorrect!

The plant's genetics are the same regardless of which flower you pick. For example, if the plant doubles 50% of the time, you will not have a lower chance of double seedlings if you use one of its single blooms for crossing.

Some flowers are so messed up that they can't reproduce well (infertile pollen, split pistil, etc.), but aside from that, cross away!

Thanks Nate! Thats exactly was I was trying to say.

When I did my first crosses, I chose 2 plants that had good growth habits but one had a 2" flower and the other had a 5" flower. I expected some small flowered seedlings but they all had 4-5" flowers but good strong growth habits. Granted nothing was spectacular but there were a few nice ones. When you hybridize sometimes you get some nice surprises.

Hi Marric, I have a few crosses in mind already :) I have about 10 new varieties I think comming in the mail soon! I cant wait, I love getting up early and drinking my cups of coffee looking at the beautiful blooms of the day on my various perennials. Now I can also be productive when I do this :)

I really enjoy going out every morning to see the new blooms! I bought some seeds on the auction last spring and they should flower this summer. Can't wait to see them.

I to am new to this as well I have tons of crosses planned for the daylilies and the seeds I have bought.
If any bloom this year I will be pollinating, I will freeze pollen if I have to so I can make the crosses I want.
