Anyone know how many days "Lake Effect" blooms?

I'm sneaking over from the hosta forum. We lost a couple big trees last year, and I'm filling most of the space with hostas. But there's one edge that's going to get quite a bit of sun, and I thought day lilies would do well there. I'd like something that blooms for an extended period, but NOT Stella D'Oro. Do any of you grow "Lake Effect"? I like the looks of the flower, and it reblooms, but I can't find any details on how long a bloom period to expect. Do you think it would look OK mixed with "Happy Returns"?

Or is there a variety you'd suggest? Something bright and cheerful?

It's too visible an area to be just foliage most of the year. I have the hostas for that!

LAKE EFFECT does not rebloom here in VA. The hybridizer registered that plant in FL, where with a long bloom season, it does rebloom. However, the bloom season lasts for about 4 weeks here.

It averages about 4 weeks for me too and like Floota I've never had it rebloom.

Thanks for the information. I guess I'll mix it with one that has a longer bloom period or some annuals.

I would not recommend LAKE EFFECT for mass plantings. One I really like is LAUGHING CLOWN, and would go well with HAPPY RETURNS, I think. Good luck, Ed
