Daylilies 2014

brigarif Khan

Hello,
Thanks to my forum friends who encouraged me and started me on Daylilies by sending me seedlings and seeds.
I am so hooked that most of my garden space is occupied by them.
The day lilies have started to bloom, let me present them as they come.

Those are all very pretty. I think my favorite is the second one. Nice to see the daylilies blooming.

The second to last is an interesting color. Do you have any idea of the parentage?

Welcome back to the forum Arif, it has been a very long winter for many in the US. What a nice surprise to see your lovely flowers again this year. Are #'s 2 and 4 first time blooms? Beautiful! Please keep posting as they open. Many thanks,Susan

How pretty. We are nowhere near the bloom stage in Oklahoma, so it's so nice to see yours. I particularly like the 4th one down and LOOK! you even have some chicken fat going on the edges of the last one. I love those fat edges.......Maryl

    Beautiful..

Mine never bloom. But the plant is healthy with green leave and spread well( become 4 from only one since I planted 3years ago)..

My country is having tropical climate..is it the weather that caused it not to bloom??

    Kind regards.

Some more beauties. Although all are colorful, the yellows and orange tones are my favorites.....Roshiah: You might get more replies if you ask under your own post, but I suspect that maybe you may have a daylily that requires chilling over winter to bloom properly. Like some trees (Peaches for instance) that require a certain number of cold days to set fruit, some daylilies need cold weather. The daylilies are classified as Dormant, Semi-evergreen and evergreen. You may need an evergreen daylily and that may not be what you have now.......Maryl

I had none, Susan got me started by sending me seedling and seeds all the way to Pakistan, other friends chipped in and kept sending me seeds.
Now I have hundreds of mature fans and many more seedlings.
Now there is a sever competition for space between Hippeastrums and Daylilies.

It is so easy to get obsessed with daylilies as everyone on this forum knows. Arif you have some lovely blooms I especially like the orange and yellow bi-color.

Arif, Is there any chance of posting pictures of your gardens? Are your lilies planted with other flowering plants, or are they in beds of their own? You have some beautiful lilies and I hope the temperatures will stay cool enough for you to harvest some seed this year. The possibilities are endless. Regards, Susan

Your last photo was my favorite flower from your 2013 seedlings. And it may well be my favorite this year. There is nothing shy about that one! Regards, Susan

I adore this one. The color is so rich, the yellow edge frames the purple beautifully. It seems to have held up well even in your very hot climate.
