If it is the first bloom, wait and see. Not as unusual as we would like. IF you sprayed for thrips.

I had Darla Anita for 3 years in my Z5 garden. Gave her away. She had dull, dusty/ muddy color here. She went out to a friends farm where she would be just one in a huge bed seen from a distance.

I've seen DARLA ANITA criticized for its color before. I've also seen it described as a "hybridizer's plant," meaning that it's not necessarily something that you'd want in your garden unless you were trying to cross it with other plants to get big ripply-edged flowers. It has obviously been used a lot, because it has 129 registered child plants.

Photos show a lot of variation in color. It's definitely not my idea of pretty. :p

Thanks for the replies, organic kitten and mizellie I have grasshoppers, haven't looked for thrips, but since I didn't spray may have them too.
wren garden, that is the way mine looks, broken uneven dull color. That's not like the picture I saw when I ordered her.
