How has your weather been? Sometimes cooler weather can make the scapes shorter. Did you fertilize and water? The flowers take a lot of growing food away from the growth of foliage and the scapes.

Cut the scapes and let it rebloom. Maybe it used up too much energy blooming last season. Sometimes it takes a season or two to adjust to your climate.

Also, you should check out the Lone Star Daylily Club's Flower Show; takes place in your town on May 18th. Probably should join the club too, if not already. There's lots of savvy daylily addicts there. Link below.

Thanks for your quick responses. I think maybe the weather is the answer. We have had weeks of nice warm weather followed by record setting cold, three times this spring. They have been fed and watered abundantly, and have really nice foliage. Some of the others that are blooming, have shorter scapes than last year, but none as short as this one. Thanks again,
