Some daylily questions

I planted some daylilies last year and they did so amazingly well that I got some more. I am in south eastern NC (coastal), and I have sandy soil with heavy clay under, it's been ammended last year and my plants are all doing well.

I bought 30 stella de oro daylilies. Each has 3 fans.

Should i plant them 1 plant (3fans) per mound or should i put more in the mound? how far apart should I plant them?

Also how much do you see your daylilies spread each year? and are they able to spread fine even with mulch down?

I'm planting the daylilies in an area that gets afternoon sun, currently there are some hostas there and i was going to move them, because the sun was burning them. is there any chance the daylilies will be able to provide some shade or should i go ahead and move them?
