question about moving a daylily

We are moving in 3 weeks, right when many of my daylilies will be blooming or at least have mature scapes. They will be out of the ground bareroot for 6-12 hours.
Will they hold their blooms or drop them & will the ones with just scapes still bloom? Is 2013 a lost cause or can I save the blooms?
What if its really hot, what should I do?

well with any plant realy, you dont want it to bloom while you replant it. maybe start digging them up putting them into gallon pots in the shade. Zone 9, it will prob want to rebloom anyway. I would Grab some freebee containers if you can from a nursery or landscaper and start potting up.

If you can dig them without disturbing the roots too much (big ball of dirt), you might be ok to let them flower. If you have to bareroot them, the plants will be better off if you cut the scapes. I'll be curious if others agree, but this is my opinion.

I agree with Nate too.
I would add; be careful planting them in full sun. If you have lots of soil on the roots, they will probably be okay. But if you move them bare rooted, pot them up and keep them in partial shade with morning sun only until they re-establish a root system. Be careful not to over-water.
