Siloam Merle Kent vs. Mardi Gras Parade

A local garden center has 6 packs of several daylily varieties on sale. (I have never seen daylilies in 6 packs, it comes out to be ~ $ 1.25 per plant; each being 1 to 2 fans.)

Most were tagged but with no pictures. I bought one that did have a photo tag (Mardi Gras Parade), and wrote down the names of the others to look them up at home. They are Siloam Double Classic and Siloam Merle Kent.

Siloam Double Classic I already have, and it has been a mediocre performer for me. Siloam Merle Kent looks a lot like Mardi Gras Parade. Color is described as bright orchid with deep purple eyezone.

Hard to see why the store buyers would select 2 such similar looking flowers. One being taller and one shorter does not seem enough reason.

In the area where I could use a daylily, I have currently Janice Brown, Siloam Dream Baby, and Custard Candy. These are all eyed: the more I think about it, Siloam Merle Kent and Mardi Gras Parade are both too similar, not only to each other, but to all of those.

Is there anything special about Siloam Merle Kent before I move on? Thanks!
