The next flower is Cajun Christmas. It was new last summer so we don't know how it will perform longterm.

I think you can see a theme here. My husband loves loves loves orange. I like orange but I usually like the flower to have an eye or edge. A plain orange doesn't do it for me. This one is Cajun Dreaming.

This is more my color choice. This is Mazie Farr. It's a southern bred one that we just planted. Hope it is hardy.

We love eyes and edges. This one is Spacecoast Gone Bulldoggin'. It has made it through two winters--the last one got to 15 below twice--and is flourishing.

Lava Flow is always a looker, and Mazie Farr is a beauty I've never seen before. Thanks for showing it, although I'm further north than you and can probably only admire it in your garden.

I like your oranges with the eyes. I used to prefer the cool colors of daylilies. But now I'm thinking I need more hot colors. I find the lavenders, pinks, and purples I love look pretty anemic on humid days in the mid 90s, and that's what we tend to have here in Nashville.

Cajun Christmas would be my pick.It looks to be blooming above the foliage. Looking forward to reading how it does long term for you.

Julia, we are in south/central Indiana near the Illinois border. We are also on the zone border too. Depending on the weather trends, the USDA keeps shifting our zone. It was 6a but after last winter, it would probably be zone 5b. We got to 15 below on two occasions this past winter. Cajun Christmas was planted last summer after the region 2 conference and survived the winter just fine. We did, however, have snow cover both times it got so cold. We usually do not have snow cover that lasts a long time.
