The seedling is showing some outstanding ruffling on its maiden bloom! Be sure to show us some later photos of that one. Always Afternoon is always lovely. I never noticed the midrib on the back of the blooms. A clematis and a shrub ate my AA. I wonder if it's still under there somewhere.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. The seedling is from Lava Flow X Ashton's Giggles. Hopefully next year the seedlings will be taller. Right now all the ones that have flowered have been less than a foot in height. Marg

Good to see your getting blooms. You do have a lot of ruffles on the orange seedling. First year seedling?

Julia, this series of seedling are all first year seedlings. The first one wasn't bad - it's improving, the second one opened like a datura and was really blotchy a good candidate for the ugliest seedling post. So far this one shows the most promise. I have lots of scapes so hopefully lots of blooms soon! Marg

I need to get out this morning & check out AA, I have never noticed a back midrib, but rarely look at the backs. I really like that seedling, it looks very promising.

AA looks good. I never look at the backs either :) I will pay more attention now.
