First Bloom of the Year on a Stormy Tuesday

There have not been any blooms in the garden but I have a patch of seedlings over at a friend's place. The first of the seedlings bloomed today. It is a second year seedling (16 months old) from Thieving Magpie X Belle of Ashwood. All 14 seedlings from this cross have scapes coming up.

Very nice color, Edward, and good performance from the cross.

This first one is round, ruffled and a good color! It will be interesting to see what you get from this cross. For me 14 would a long cross. So far, I haven't planted more than 5 seeds from any cross. My limited space won't permit it. I need to talk my friends into letting plant patches of seedlings on their property.

I think it's gonna be a beauty Edward. We can use our imagination and see what's coming next...Congrats...Ellie

Thanks guys. I can see a lot of potential in this one.

Debra, I started out with about 30 seeds for this cross and I ended up moving the best 15 seedlings out of the shoebox and into the bed. One of the seedlings did not make it through the first winter. The most vigorous of this cross bloomed last year, tried to rebloom and is now four fans with three scapes.
