I have some daylilies planted under a pine tree and some bloom, while a few do not. I finally figured out they're not getting enough water because the tree is keeping the rain off the plants. So, unless I supplement by watering by hand, none of the daylilies will bloom. You might also check to see if the daylily is planted too deep, which can prevent it from blooming.

Sometimes you can just get unlucky and get a plant that refuses to bloom. I've waited four years for a few varieties to bloom. If I don't see anything again this year, they're compost.

Thanks Maximus, I have supplemental water going to the area every morning. I may lift it and put some peat moss down and also see if the tree roots are damaging the Daylily roots. It bloomed in 2011 and 2012 and not last year or this year.
