Seedling with a fleur-de-lis shape

This is this seedlings third year blooming. At least one bloom each year has been this shape. The petals somehow stick together and don't open. This pic has one petal open, but sometimes no petals open but the sepals do. It is a great shape. Does anyone else have seedlings that do this.... I'd like to acquire some others and breed to this one to see if I can get that shape to continue.

Yeah, looks like its ruffles are just stuck together.

If you want to see some other DLs that open strangely like that, check out Curt Hanson's more recent plants.

Ellie it is just stuck, but its the semi-toothy ruffling that is repeatedly causing it. If I could get others that were also prone to do this, I might be able to breed for it. A bit like the first folks to see extra material on a bloom and eventually we got doubles. I think and sort of hope that the weird or unusual has the potential to eventually become a new attribute others may find interesting.... it may also simply end in a line of bad seedlings with little going for them. All just part of the fun.

I'm pulling this thread back to the top because I had more blooms this year that stuck to make this shape. I love it when it happens. I am hoping someone else might have one that does this continually that they might share or sell to me.... I want to breed for this. It is too interesting when it does it.
