I would say that nutrients and water are important all the time. But I was always told that for dormants especially, fall is an important growth period.

Most of my evergreens multiply right after they bloom in early summer.

think about it this way (and I could be wrong) ⦠after the plant blooms ⦠it has been putting all of its energy into flowering â¦. after it flowers, it starts putting its energy into its roots ⦠preparing for next year. That is why watering is important after they bloom⦠at least that is the way in my shade garden ⦠give them 'thar roots a chance to bulk up a bit
