Can this Daylily Be Saved?

User

I recently bought a few new daylilies. I know it's not the best time of year to be planting, however I could not help my self. My Viva Pinata looks like it's not going to make it after only two weeks. Of the three fans (small at best), two have rotted at the crown. The third and largest looks very questionable. Is there anything I can do?

We have had fairly steady rain since it was purchased so underwatering is not the issue. I also placed it in an area where it was not getting full day sun - so perhaps it needed more sun.

Today I lifted it out of the ground. A lot of roots were rotted too. I tried to remove all the rot. I put it in a pot with potting soil. Until the sun comes back (we're expecting rain for the next two days), I am putting it in the house.

Should I consider adding rooting powder to it to help develop new root growth? There was no sign of any new roots developing at this point. Anything else I can do to prevent further rot?

I welcome your suggestions. Robyn
