is it okay if i pull the whole stem out instead of reaching down low into the clump and try to snip?

its much faster, but not sure its okay for plant

they are day littles, green flutter, stelladora etc

Do not pull the scapes out until they turn brown. Doing it earlier can damage the crown or allow disease to invade the crown.

If the scape looks brown, you can try giving it a gentle tug. Sometimes they will come right out, but if not, don't pull any harder. Either cut it, or wait.
