Interesting! I am not sure how it is called but I called it fused too. I have two on one plant. Was afraid that the blooms will be too crowded up there, but they divided into two sort of branches and blooming ok now. Mine is a NOID though, what is your daylily called?

Won't know the name until it blooms. This plant is in the hospital bed where the ailing or single tiny fans that fall out of the box ect. live. They stay until there until bigger and bloom so I know who they are and where to plant it. It was a single fan this scape came up and it spit into three fans. It's fused all the way down. So definitely isn't going to separate. Love strange happenings in the garden. Just took a plant out that was id,d as poison hemlock, a new one for me.

Thank you Rita and Deangreen. Kay, I don't usually post pictures because I'm about as handy with my camera as I am with a computer. Took a picture today of one bed that turn out with fairly accurate colors. Here's a group shot.

I checked, and that thing in the first pic is called fasciated scape. It is in AHS dictionary :)
