In my experience, daylilies usually don't rebloom until several weeks after the first flush of blooms. I have Happy Returns too and it bloomed during the month of June, but took a few weeks to get rebloom. It is blooming again pretty good, but the blooms are more down in the foliage this time.

I deadhead, but just removed the old dead scapes a few days ago. I was under the impression that you did not have to do this though in order for a daylily to rebloom, but I may be wrong.

Just wait, I guess. I've had Happy Returns for four years now and it always reblooms. No sign of rebloom scapes here yet. I am not sure about cutting brown scapes, I thought it has nothing to do with rebloom, but watering might, rain especially. I only watered mine once this year :o

I've had Happy Returns for a decade or two and it almost always "returns". Not as floriferous as the first bloom, but a scattered hand full of blooms here and there. It's on a rebloom now as I type this. It's been about a month or more since the main flush. Some of the blooms indeed are down lower in the foliage as Vickie noted on hers. Mine won't bloom all season, being more southerly, our season is fairly long. However, for the north a few months might be considered "all season". If cutting back the dead scapes had anything to do with rebloom, then my Happy Returns would be the exception to the rule. It's not exactly pampered, and I still have a few old scapes on it from last bloom. It's pretty bullet proof, which is why it stays in my garden.....Maryl
