I traded by mail once with someone who had a number of Australian ones, and I think this and Maleny Empire Rose came from there. You pegged it, Kay. Heavy substance so nothing seems to ever bother it, even rain. And it begins to bloom the afternoon before the day it is officially open and does not close til late at night after being open. In the cool fall it is sometimes open for 2 days. Last year it bloomed continuously from early June to frost, and this year just had a small gap between reblooms. Ed Brown is interesting with the extra petal. Brad
It's very interesting to see some cultivars from an Australian hybridizer. Continuous rebloom from early June till frost? Sounds too good to be true. Keep us informed about Maleny Empire Rose. I wonder if some of the Maleny series is not so hardy.
I was counting the buds on this stem [21, only 2 have bloomed so far] when I noticed yet another stem popping up. So it should be another early June to frost year. Frost in Ky is often mid Oct, but first really killing frost is often not til late Oct. or sometimes early Nov. Brad
