Thanks, everyone. Avedon, no, I have very few UFs if any. This one just showed up. The pod parent is a brilliant red dip seedling of mine with a yellow star throat I've had for 4-5 years and plan to register it this year. I wouldn't call it a UF, but maybe a not-quite spider.

I was lazy at the beginning of the season last year and did not keep record of pollen parents. I sure don't have anything that tall in the entire garden.

The garden looks greener, Val, as unlike much of the country, we did get rain often in July, and because I have been working row by row on cleaning up the daylilies. I remove the yellowed leaves, and two days later there are more (as you can see). Out of 40 rows, I still have 7 rows to go. I manage to get one row cleaned up per day. It is slow-going because I have to sit in a lawn chair and move it from daylily to daylily. This ole gray mare ain't what she used to be!
