Newbie question: Is this normal?

I have some beautiful red daylilies that I got in trade a few years ago. I've never grown daylilies before. This is the first year that I got a lot of blooms. After I deadheaded them, new tufts of leaves appeared where the flower had been -- like miniature plants. A few of those even bloomed. Is that how daylilies reproduce? Should I cut off the plantlets and pot them up?

Those sound like proliferations. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't. It's one of several daylily reproduction methods (and it results in identical plants). There are a couple recent threads that explain what to do with prolifs.
