What cultivars increase the Most and the Least

thechasman

With the summer fading fast, I started wondering which of my cultivars have increased the most and least. I wish I had paid more attention to my clumps this spring. If you care to respond include your growing zone since certain cultivars do better in different areas. I'll start it off:

Zone----------Most---------------Least

5----------Summer Blush-------Melanie May

The daylily that has increased best for me is Longlesson Showoff. The worst has been Etched Eyes. Etched Eyes is still a single fan and it hasn't bloomed in three years.

    West Coast - Zone 7

    Zone 8b - FL

The worst is easy - White Perfection - 1 fan after 2 years. This is the only daylily in my garden that has done a whole lot of nothing. It seems perfectly healthy, but only has a couple of blooms, no rebloom and no increase.

The best increase would be on one of the following - Siloam Double Classic, Ruby Spider, Long Stocking or Catherine Woodbery.

Janet - Sovereign Queen and Royal Heiress are two of my best increasing Munsons. The two that don't increase at all are China Lake and China Veil. As for Susan Weber, I've killed it twice. And that's such a shame because it's a very pretty late.

I will say that the both of them may not be in the most promising part of the field. I dug some SQ last week to ship and lined out the rest in some of what I think is better ground. We'll see what it has to offer in the next year or so. If it grows better there I'll happily spread the news and admit I've got some poor ground.

    Zone 4:

    Very good increase:

    LOVE THOSE EYES, Rasmussen 1987

    PINK PUFF, Sharp 1987

TAUDY, Webster 1990 (new this year, really took off)

    In the hospital:

PINK ROCKS, Carpenter, K 1990 (new, did great until heat)

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER, Stamile 1997 (trying to grow)

Everybody else in between with no or few blooms and fans.
Hoping for a much better spring!

Brown Eyed Girl took 4 years to go from 2 fans to 4 and David Kirchhoff went from 2 fans to 1 and then back to 2 in 2 years.
On the other hand Red Peacemaker went from 2 fans to 10 in a year.
