RE: Celebrate With Me!!!

Thank you so much...I have been marking off shifts since January 1st. (I had to work New Years EVE and New Years Day last year). My fellow house supervisors were absolutely super, but I was ready to be through with the tension and difficult decisions that were part of the job. I will miss the people, but I am ready to escape the rat race.

You will be busier than ever now AND you won't get paid for it BUT you can go where you want, when you want too and that's a definite plus. This forum has the nicest people!!! I really thank you all for celebrating with me. I want to thank everyone for taking the time to celebrate with me.

There is a lot I want to do now that time no longer revolves around work. And I am sure that no one is surprised that I will be working in the garden. The funny thing is, I feel a little guilty, like I am breaking a rule or something...that will pass though.

So happy for you Kay! Next summer is going to be wonderful. Waking up every day to see all the daylilies in bloom and going out again and again to see them throughout the day.

Congrats!

How does it feel now that you can work in the garden and not have to plan your schedule around having to go off to work? I bet you feel great!

 o
RE: Celebrate With Me!!!

The very best to you, Kay, on your retirement. Now you will have time to smell the roses and order more daylilies, which I am sure you plan to do. ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!!!! Avedon

You paid your dues, now you enjoy.

To be honest, it still feels a little like "waiting for the other shoe to fall." Possibly since I go in Wednesday for a meal with the House supervisors group I used to belong to, and get a shadowbox with my years of service, etc...then, perhaps I will really relax. I suspect it will begin to feel really great friday evening when I don't have to get ready to go to work...no more all white uniforms. The shoes will be garden shoes.

Once more you are a special group of people and I thank you for celebrating with me.

I was out of town for the weekend and just now catching up on the forum, so I'm late responding to this thread, but congrats! I know you've been really looking forward to it.

RE: Celebrate With Me!!!

Congratulations on your retirement! You will now have time for enjoying the freedom to do as you please. You can sit outside in the early morning with a cup of coffee and relax, or whatever moves you at the moment. I'm very happy for you.

RE: Celebrate With Me!!!

Kay,

CONGRATS!!! I retired 10 wonderful years ago and have never looked back. I get up whatever time I want to, go where I want, whenever I want. Even though I can no longer do many of the things I used to do in the garden, my wonderful son helps me, so I am able to continue gardening. Plus you can now make your hobby work for you to give you a supplemental income. Make that garden pay for itself, sell plants and seeds. I do and it keeps me occupied most of the year. Enjoy!!!
