Last seed pod harvested today - What did you find?

I have more than enough seeds to keep me occupied during the winter months. Most of what I got the pollen parent is unknown except for a couple that I crossed with WILD IRISH. I believe I am well over 100 seeds which is probably peanuts to some of you who do it on a much larger scale. :-).
Here is what I got:

Several pods on other dls just dried up so I am assuming the pollinating by the bees/insects was not a good match.
Hopefully, next season I can start using some of the new dls I planted this past spring for more variety in crosses.

| I tend to buy seeds, but I do have a few pods of GABRIEL DES NUANCES X KING GEORGE that I want to experiment with for big, tall, eyed flowers with a full form. |

| I've had to purchase most of my seeds this year. But, one of my crosses I can't wait to see bloom is Meet Joe Black x Nature's Poetry

| I've gotten a number of seeds from pods this year, and they will all be a total surprise to me, as all my labels came off, so I have no idea what crossed with what. I'm just not too sure when to start the seeds indoors, but as I plod along, I'll figure it out, :) Alberta |

| So far I have 21 seeds from Victorian Lace X Unknown (Gentleman's Lady, Belle Cook or Last Snowflake). I collected 5 seeds from No More Tears X Gentleman's Lady but I gave them away. I have pods left on Tower of Babel, Cloud Forest and one of my seedlings(Victorian Lace X Within the Veil). All of the pollen parents are unknown. Edward |

| I harvested lots and lots of pods. I usually have about 3,000 seeds, but this year it's probably more like 2,000-2,400. I didn't make nearly as many spur of the moment crosses this year. I never have enough time or space to plant more than 150-200 seeds, so I sell some of my extras on the Lily Auction. (And I pray that I win the lottery or get an unexpected inheritance so I can buy some land and plant the rest.) Among the crosses I'll probably plant are: Cosmic Odyssey X Jitterbug Blues

Edward: Have you tried posting on either the AHS email Robin Bulletin Board or the Daylilies For Northern Climate forum for JT Davis pollen?
I've tried bidding a couple of times for JT Davis and always lost so I think I will just find it from a reliable grower next spring. Sorry to hear yours didn't bloom. Do you think its a unreliable daylily? Julia |

| I think that JT Davis is slow to establish in my Zone 5b garden. I have three fans but only one is bloom size. I have had it three years and it did not bloom the first, bloomed the second and did not bloom the third. I planted out seedlings this spring from Fairest of Them X JT Davis. Even if JT Davis proves to be unreliable in my garden it is an excellent parent and I will use it when I can. Edward |

Victorian Poet x Daring Dilemma Ruth Gordon x woman at the Well(thanks for the pollen Nina) Too many others to remember.I went pollen dabbing crazy. Nina was uber generous and sent me gobs of pollen. I used a bunch and the rest is in the deep freeze with some I collected awaiting next year(WHAAA HaaaHaaa!) I'm super limited on space and I have to wait till spring thaw to sow directly. I have way too many cats(18) to start seeds indoors. They would think it's a salad bar!
On the good side of that mother nature culls a number for me. I have about 30 seedlings from this year that are 6-8" high and many have multiple fans already! Kim

| I have some seeds sprouting. I planted my Victorian Lace crosses and none of them germinated. I received some seeds as a gift and they are doing well. i have a cross of Cynthia Louise Valente X Isle of Wight with three green tips showing through the potting soil and one green tip in the Butter Cream X ? row. I have seeds from the lily auction that have not yet been planted. They are Yellow Monkey X White Magician and Mabou X Heartbeat of Heaven. I will start soaking those seeds this weekend. |
