Addiction gone to overload.

Had to laugh at myself yesterday. I had some seeds start sprouting in their pods this year, so I stuffed them in my potted plant in the kitchen. Now I have daylilies growing in my kitchen. I'll have to leave then there for the winter because it is to late to start such small things outside this time of year....isn't it?? They are just little 'blades of grass' right now.

I guess it would depend on when your "hard" frost is. Here, we get a frost in October typically but the hard frost will come in November when everything takes a hit. BUT, nothing is for sure with these crazy weather patterns.

For me personally, I'd take the chance and plant it out and be sure it is well mulched but not suffocated. Also place it in a more protected spot against the harsh winter winds. I know I can't grow seedlings long term in the house so I'd take the chance outdoors.

Tell me about it,I will proubly be planting seeds inside and out from now till spring at the rate im going.
Can not seam to stop bidding on seeds.

Juliany, do you or anyone else know if it matters if they are dormant or SEV or EV?
I've got some seedlings that are about 8" tall and have been debating on whether to keep them inside or plant out and take my chances. They are mixed EV & SEV and EV & Dor, so it may depend on which genes they get.
They are hardiness rated for a zone cooler than mine, but not sure how accurate that maybe.

....I hear you....I have banned myself from buying anymore on the LA, my few last bids will either hold or else. My limit is reached and I dare not allow myself anymore liberties!!!!!! :-)

flora: I have a mix of crosses so who survives or not is probably more dependent on growing conditions.

I still have several more seedlings from 2011 that are still in pots outdoors that need to get in the ground. I think I may end up sinking the entire pot in the ground this year and plant them out in the spring. They've already survived one winter in a pot outdoors so hopefully they can do that again.

Mine are literally the size of a blade of grass-I just planted them about two weeks ago as I wanted to try to save some of the seeds that had sprouted in the pod. My bigger seedlings, I am working into the garden (planted in the spring). Normally I would have planted them in late May/early June-but it was just too hot and dry and I didn't think they would make it. I try not to leave them in pots because my squirrels like to plant walnuts in my flower pots.
