There will never be another year like this, at least that's what I'm thinking. I know Debra had some that rebloomed for her and not me this year, and Nancy had Clown Parade to rebloom. Why don't you add you lists of reblooming plants?

That's a pretty impressive list you have too, Debra. We have a few on both our lists. What a year it has been!

Amazing is all I can say. Kay especially but Debra too.

My "list" two plants this year. Hawaiian Dancer and Fountain Of Life both had exactly ONE rebloom scape each. I have had rebloomers here that triple scape and others that at least reliably reblooom. Not this year. This year early spring and already hot in March with a long summer and plenty of rain. Sounds ideal for rebloom doesn't it? Apparently the daylilies don't agree!

  • Edward_Kimball

Rita, your list is longer than mine. Mine is zip, zilch, and zero!!

  • Julia WV (6b)

Very few here this year as well. TRULY ANGELIC, AZTEC HEADDRESS, ROUEN CATHEDRAL, INTELLIGENT DESIGN, PENNY PINSLEY and there is a couple more which I can't remember at the moment. Very odd year as I wouldn't see any new scapes and given our lack of rain, I'm even more amazed.

I was surprised to see when I looked at my list that I had 11 that rebloomed this year. In many cases it was only 1 or 2 scapes, but it was rebloom. I had exactly the same number rebloom last year, but only 3 were the same daylilies--Stella's Ruffled Fingers, early and Often, and Regency Summer. Also reblooming this year were Bellla Sera, Sunday's with VErnon, Bold Vision, Jason Derifield, Alexis Sunny Pants, Dancing Rainbow, Larry Grace, and Footloose fancy.

Even though I had a greater number than usual rebloom this year, many that normally rebloom did NOT this time. I usually have rebloom on Adamas, Arctic Lace, Chartered Course, Tiffany Jewels, Ruby Lipstick, Green Illusion, Wild Red Heart, Better Than Ever, Spacecoast Sharp Tooth, Crazy Ivan, I Remember You, Mister Bubbles, Dark Wonder, Perseus' Sandals and Persian Market.

And some that had NEVER rebloomed did this time: Forsyth Frostbound, Blush of Emerald, Adrienne's Surprise, Autumn Jewels, Always Applique and Worthy Creation. Very strange!

Before this year, the most I'd ever had rebloom was 45.

wELL, WENT TO hang up my clipboard that I have lots of things wrote on and found another smaller clipboard where I had wrote down rebloomers at the start of the reblooming scapes, so now I can add a few more to my list that I had forgotten about., so
    31.. sweet sugar candy
32,..Condilla, who is still blooming away, each time I think its finished, it puts up another scape and more blooms.
    33..Pandora's Box
    34.. Flamenco Twirl
    35... Spacecoast Royal Ransom
    3

    6... Fiery Temper.

By comparison the ones that were on the above lists and how they did here:

    Kay's list:
**Mary's Baby = no rebloom (to be fair, she developed rust, so moved her to a less sunny position to keep her away from my other daylilies. Maybe not enough sun for rebloom)
**Texas Heatwave = ???? (This was such a ruster that I pitched it still loaded with scapes).
**Linda Beck = no rebloom (but no rust either-Hooray!)
**South Seas = Rebloom early in the season

    Debra:
**Coral Majority = Rebloom - actually a blooming fool. Blooming and new scapes on it now. AND NO rust.
**Green Mystique = No rebloom (boo hoo!)
    **Happy Returns = Rebloom
**Shores of Time = Rebloom (Last bloom was today). Never has been totally rust free like some others.

    Val:
**Dancing Rainbow = No rebloom. But like Mary's Baby I had to move it to another area with less sun to keep it's rusty leaves from infecting the rest of my daylilies.

    Jean:
**Pandora's Box = No rebloom. Had this one for ages and only once has it rebloomed. Good for you Jean.

I too am amazed at the amount of rebloom I've gotten this year. The ones that no one else mentioned so far that rebloomed for me are:
*America's Most Wanted - reblooming now
*Mister Lucky - mid season rebloomer
*Sour Puss - mid season rebloomer
*Rose Masterpiece - mid season rebloomer
*Sherry Lane Carr - reblooming now
*Santa's Little Helper - early season rebloomer
*Frequent Comment - mid season rebloomer

    That's all I can think of now.....Maryl

  • Nancy Barginear

I didn't keep records of the reblooms, other than in my aging memory. They are:

    SPANISH FIESTA (new)
    LAVENDER SHIMMER (new)
    SPANISH SKETCH
    APRIL LA QUINTA
    ROMANIAN RENDEVOUS
    DOLLY'S LIPSTICK
    JACQUELYN KENNEDY ONASSIS (new)
    FUJITANI (new)
    SPACECOAST SONATA
    BARREL OF MONKEYS (new)
    WIND FRILLS
    INVITATION TO IMMORTALITY
    HAPPY HAPPY (new)
    FIFI SAVED THE DAY (new)

...and then added to that are those that took no break but continued to bloom:

    MISTER LUCKY
    BEAUTIFUL EDGINGS (still blooming)
    CHEWONKI (still blooming)
    CAPTAIN AHAB (still blooming)
    CARNIVAL MASK

CERISE MASTERPIECE (new this year) has sent up its first scape in last week or so, but no blooms so far.

Just noticed that my iPad decided to change the name of a daylily. It was Joan Derifield. I probably got the a and o backwards and didn't realize that it invented a new name.
Like Debra I had some that usually rebloom and didn't this year. May May, Big Time Happy, and Voices of Spring are 3 that come to mind.

Nancy - I see Spanish Sketch rebloomed for you. That one has never rebloomed for me. I don't think it gets enough sun or water here later in the season.

Jean: I posted a picture of an awesome multibloom scape on another post some time this year for Sour Puss, but can't find it now. This is a John Shooter daylily (Marietta) and is in my top 5 favorite daylilies. Named because of the greenish cast to the blooms (which are very large btw).

I think I'm like Debra, several of my dependable rebloomers didn't rebloom. Here is my list:
    Annabelles Blush
    Bill Norris
    Blue Eyed Butterfly
    Buttermilk Moon
    Caribbean Eye Spy
Clown Parade sent up a scape, but the blooms dried up during that hot spell we had. One bloom opened but looked terrible, so I guess CP doesn't count really
    Choral Fantasy
Delia O'bryan Brown-rebloomed almost as well as it did the 1st time, & not a rebloomer
    Destined to see-not a rebloomer
    Evening Enchantment
    Final Destination
    Fooled Me
    Gift from Heaven
    Hello Heartstrings
    Hillbilly Heart
    Jamaican Me Crazy
    Jamaican Music
    Janice Brown-not a rebloomer
    Jersey Spider
    John Kirkland
    Lake Norman Spider-not a rebloomer
    Matt-not a rebloomer
    Moonlit Masquerade
    Mystical Rainbow
    Pandora's Treasure
Raspberry Pixie had several rebloom scapes, Not a rebloomer
    Romanian Rendevous
    Rose Electra
    Stella's Ruffled Fingers
    Storm of the Century
    Storm over Toledo
    Strawberry Candy
    Touched by Grace
    Wild Horses
    Wineberry Candy-not a rebloomer
    Woman at the Well
    Wyatt Earp

I have rebloom scapes on 3 more right now. Siloam Virginia Henson has 4 scapes from 5 fans, & it isn't a rebloomer. Jim Brown & Westbourne Homestead. This is actually pretty good rebloom for me. I have a few that have rebloomed every year for me though, nothing from them yet. With all the rain we've been getting though, who knows, that may change.

Marseilles Watercolor has now put up a rebloom scape and Colorado has two...fourth re-bloom for it.

like Debra and Nancy, several that usually rebloom for me didn't. Patricia Snider Memorial, Bill Watson, Helaman, Wild Cherry Round-up, Citrix, Gillian, Intelligent Design, Spanish Fiesta, and Wispy Rays come to mind.

ELLIE:Am so sorry you are not feeling well, and I really hope you feel better very soon. I was also feeling really bad for a couple weeks, with low grade fever and body aches must worse then usual.I had all the smptoms of that west nile virus, but am doing better the last couple days.I heard on the news that some folks get it and dont even know they have it, and others feel ill for a couple weks then they get better.its what I thought I might have had, but, have no idea what it was.its dont got hot again, so that saps the energy out in a hurry.
    feel better ellie.
