Red.. or purple.. are the hardest colors to photograph and get 'real world' daylily pics.. ones that represent how the flower actually looked when the photo was taken. I went thru several digital cameras this spring trying to find one that was capable of capturing those colors.... in a realistic price range. None were ideal.. yet I did find one that could manage TRUE COLORS with some work... using the right light and settings... and taking lots of pics. Producing real world colors & pics in the daylily world is decidedly NOT the goal. Often new arrivals are a pale shadow of their face used to market to the masses. Yes ..some travel poorly.. most come from high culture propagation and often are too small a fan to represent what one could expect at strength. It's a SELL SELL game.. quality is not the first goal... $$ is. Here's the same red face.. the one at right ideal light and the camera's computer chip making the color super saturated. Left one is most representative of this flower.

| Ooooh, FIRE FROM HEAVEN looks very nice! I bought a couple of reds this year because I just didn't have very many. In some cases, I wasn't sure if it was a red, orange, or purple, so I went by the AHS listing. Starting off with my best bloomer: APPLE TART - dark red self with green throat
GOD IS LISTENING - cherry red with light cherry red watermark above emerald green throat
GRANNY COOT - red with thin white edge above bright yellow throat
MEXICAN ART - red with yellow edge and green throat
MISTER LUCKY - red with dark red eyezone
NEWBERRY FESTIVAL - rose self with green throat
PARDON ME - bright red self with yellow green throat
RASPBERRY WINE - raspberry red with small melon throat
RED VOLUNTEER - clear candle red self with gold yellow throat
RUBY SPIDER - ruby red spider self with yellow throat
SPACECOAST RASPBERRY MIST - rose red with lighter halo and gold edge above green throat
WHOOPEREE - rose red with darker eyezone and chalky green throat
