The tulips are planted!!!

| I have all of the tulips planted!!! The new bulb planting device I got from Gardener's Supply is a true gem. It is a metal cylinder with openings along the side.
One end of the cylinder has a protrusion that fits a drill, the other end is designed to cut into the ground, so you just drill away. the cylinder collects the dirt, you pull it out, drop in bone meal and the bulb, dislodge the dirt form the cylinder to cover the bulb, and go on to the next one. I planted 232 tulips! Hooray, that job is done.
The alliums are planted.
The lilies are chilling in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. But I am making progress.

| Geez, kay. I feel like a slouch here as I didn't get lots of bulbs this fall. I have to look at that bulb planting thing you mentioned. Its just too difficult to do it the old fashioned way all the time. |

| Thanks Guys! I am very relieved to have so much of the planting done. Rita, I don't think you have to worry about being a slouch with all the work you've done. To the contrary! Mama Cat does not allow squirrels in her yard. She does not allow chipmonks in her yard either. Therefore, with Mama Cat on patrol, no tulips are eaten by squirrels or chipmonk....ever! Any rodent foolish enough to enter her domain would soon die for it. Mama Cat on patrol:
(The weeds are on DH's walk, not in my flower garden.) I am looking forward to spring too! This is my first year to plant alliums...I hope they do well. kay |

Mama cat looks like she is "on duty' for sure, what a pretty cat too. I love all her markings and colors. Oh I digress, the tulips will look amazing and you must post on here, I love the spring bulbs too, they are afterall how I started with the daylilies, as I planted the DL at first to hide the foliage of all the daffs. Oh well, now I have two addictions, or is it just one? Have to look into that new tool you used. cindy |

| Mama Cat does look like she is serious about her work. I have always been a cat lover but although we do have squirrels here, the cats (both mine and neighbors) don't bother the squirrels. No chipmonks or voles although my garden is absolutely full of shrews. The heavy mulching I do is paradise for them. Cover and lots of earthworms to eat. They do not bother plants and there are still plenty of earthworms here so the shrews don't bother me at all. They look like a very small really pointy nosed short tailed mouse. Anyway, back to bulbs. This spring, I had every intention of buying lots of bulbs to plant. But after this summers non stop relocation work of moving daylilies I ran out of steam. Guess I will just have to put it on my list for next year. I do love daffs as they are my favorite spring bulb. Like tulips too, reminds me of when I was a child as my dad just loved tulips and always planted lots of them. He had a rose garden running along side the house were after all these years, I have a rose garden also. Between the roses he had lots of tulips and hyacinths and then later in the summer gladiolas. Kay, you always seem so organised to me. You decided to have spring bulbs and got it done. Way to go! |

| No Rita, Not organized, just compulsive..."I have to have tulips. And the lilies were so pretty, I need more, and I've always wondered how alliums would look here"..."Foxtail lilies are such interesting plants." "Ooooh look! There is a really good sale on those gorgeous lilies." "I've heard Buggy Crazy is good...I think I'll get some Mount Hood daffodils from him"...and so it goes. When the boxes start coming in, I start planting...I do try not to get too far behind. And that new tool is the way to go planting tulips! You know you will all get tired of my posting come spring, but I can't wait. kay |

| Well, I am pretty compulsive too, just out of steam for planting this year. All that changes by spring because after the winter indooors I am sooooo ready to start work in the garden. HA, not ever going to get tired of pictures. And not only the daylilies. I am looking forward to seeing the iris and the spring bulbs. And of course the daylilies! |
