How to store divisions for a few days?

I divided 'Elizabeth Salter' today into 8 divisions. I put them in an empty barrel in our cool shady patio and plan to replant them tomorrow or Wednesday (or Thursday if it rains Wed). Our daytime temps are cool (60s) and they will not get any direct sun in this spot.

How long can they safely stay there until I plant this week? Do I need to keep them damp?

They should be fine if you plant them this week. Daylilies are pretty tough plants a few days will not hurt them.

Well - before I had a chance to plant them it rained for a few days (which is good), then the ground was too wet to dig in (not good), then we were preparing for a big party (good, but no time to plant!), and then I've been sidelined with hip pain (not good).

All of that to say, the daylily divisions are still sitting in the barrel in the cool shade.

I hope to get them planted today and tomorrow. I do hope they're tough!
