Plant(s) for hot southern exposure?

The trick is, this spot, although EXCRUCIATINGLY hot and in the late sun in the late afternoon, will be in full shade from 9 a.m. until about 3 or 4.

It's downright temperate during the day (summers: 90) but surprisingly hot in the late afternoons (98+).

Would hostas work there? I've never grown them.

Thanks in advance!
April

April,

Maybe see if the forum on xeriscaping has any suggestions.
