Marigold deer deterant?

I know deer don't like most marigold. What if I put marigold next to the platns the deer like. Would they still eat the plant or will the marigold scent keep them moving?

RE: Marigold deer deterant?

depends on how hungry they are, and how tasty the plants are...

deer won't eat what they dont' like (wormwood and marigolds are definately on the list) but it doesn't seem to stop them from munching three feet away from them...

sounds like a job for 'liquid fence'
