Deer have determined that azaleas are quite delicious. If deer are a common sight in your yard, that is not the plant for you.

Oddly, our deer never touch them and I have them in my yard almost daily later in summer. (will even stand still while you talk to them until you clap your hands and get them moving) But I understand they eat differently in different climates, and with little or no snow cover here, our deer are more opportunistic browsers than outright hungry. They snack on things like roses, raspberries, columbine, but little else with any regularity. I've had them walk past 5 or 6 rose shrubs, showing a special interest in Double Delight...always the first one to be missing new growth and blooms if I don't spray with Bobbex.
