Leach field-how wide a path?

I have a leach field running down the middle of what I want to become my vegetable garden. I have at least 50ft on each side that could become the garden. I have heard varying information as to how to plant veggies next to a leach field. How far away from the actual line should I plant a standard edible garden? How far does the Leach field actually "leach"? My soil is clay based. Any info around planting vegetables near a leach line would be appreciated. My seedlings await......

RE: Leach field-how wide a path?

I was told by my county extension office that I could put a raised bed on top of my leach field soI did.

My plants grew with no problem other then lack of watering on my part.
