Deer and Fabric Softner-???

Recently I came across one of those broadcast emails we see all too often, but this one was a bit more interesting than most. It was extolling the virtues of Bounce, the fabric softner, for uses besides in the dryer. Seems it's good for keeping bees, mosquitoes, mice, etc., away. Since I'm convinced that deer are among those creatures whose sense of smell is so acute that they will avoid certain "smelly" things, such as cheap cakes of soap, I wondered if anyone had ever used Bounce as a deer deterrent? (this spring, nothing I hung a cake of soap from was disturbed by the deer, but I forgot the elderberries in the far back of my lot - they ate them to the ground!) I'd love to hear of your smelly experiences.

| I have heard of this but in my expierence no one thing works for everyone and them pesky deer like to change things up so what works this year may may not next. Good luck. |

Arctostaphylos, Thanks for your reply - I'm going to try putting those around and see what happens - it's cheaper and easier than soap! jm |
